About Us


Membership Committee

The Membership Committee maintains contact with national Rabbinic and Cantorial associations and schools of all denominations and provides information (and applications) about the NAJC and its services.

Membership is open to any person serving as a Jewish Chaplain in an institutional or agency setting, as well as others who share a commitment to the values and goals of NAJC. A variety of membership categories are available, reflecting the diversity of experience and involvement of the membership body.

Membership Categories

NAJC welcomes all who share in the vision, mission and goals of the organizations. Interested persons may choose to join and support either as a Member (Regular, Certified, or Retired) or as an Affiliate.

All Members and Affiliates receive the NAJC mailings (including the Newsletter) and may attend the NAJC Annual Convention and other meetings as convened.

Members only are eligible to vote or hold office in NAJC. Members also receive access to the members only section of the web-site, and can participate in the rapid response hotline and the list-serve for instant messages. For more information or a membership application contact .

  • Certified, Corporate Member, Member, Affiliate, Student Affiliate, Retired Member, Israeli Member, or Military

Certification Requirements

The National Association of Jewish Chaplains certifies qualified individuals as Jewish Chaplains. This certification is analogous to the professional recognition by other national pastoral care organizations. Some Jewish Chaplains will seek certification by more than one association depending upon the individual's professional goals.

  • Once Certified, all certified members are required to follow the continuing education requirements.

All Certified Members are required to follow the Continuing Education and Peer Review policies and reporting guidelines.
