Officers and Executive Board
NAJC President Rabbi Lowell Kronick Rabbi Kronick is the Associate Director for Education at the Department of Veterans Affairs National Chaplain Center in Hampton, VA. He is responsible for the continuing education of VA chaplains nationwide. He has Semikha from Yeshiva University and is Board Certified by NAJC, the Association for Professional Chaplains (APC), and the National Association of Veterans Affairs Chaplains (NAVAC).
NAJC President Elect Rabbi Natan Fenner Rabbi Fenner, BCC serves the Bay Area Jewish Healing Center (San Francisco). He is a Kalsman Partner (Kalsman Institute on Judaism and Health at HUC-JIR), a member of ““SeRaF”” (the Senior Resource Faculty for the National Center for Jewish Healing), a trainee for the American Red Cross’ SRT (Spiritual Care Response Team), and a member of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association. Rabbi Fenner also serves on the advisory council for Hiddur: The Center for Aging and Judaism.
NAJC Vice President Chaplain Sheila Segal Chaplain Segal, B.C.C., is Director of Chaplaincy Services and Leonard I. Green Chair in Spiritual Care at the Madlyn and Leonard Abramson Center for Jewish Life, a long-term care center in North Wales, PA (greater Philadelphia). She has served as chair of the NAJC's committee on professional ethics and has represented NAJC in the work of the Spiritual Care Collaborative.
NAJC Treasurer Rabbi Yaacov Rone Rabbi Rone graduated from JTS Rabbinical School. He served as chaplain in prison, hospital, military hospital settings and is a past Associate Executive VP and Director of Chaplaincy for the New York Board of Rabbis. Rabbi Rone is a Certified Chaplain in the NAJC, an accredited member of AAMFT (retired) and a member of the Executive Committee of the Rabbinical Assembly.
NAJC Secretary Rabbi Robert Tabak Rabbi Tabak, PhD, BCC is a staff chaplain at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He is also an adjunct faculty member at St. Joseph's University and at Cabrini College. Bob also edits the RRA Connection, newsletter of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association. He wrote the article on "Chaplaincy" (part of the "Hospitals" article) for the revised 2007 edition of the Encylopedia Judaica.
NAJC Chair, Conference Commission Rabbi Ephraim Karp
NAJC Chair, Certification Commission Rabbi Joel Levinson Rabbi Levinson serves Temple Beth El of Patchogue; is the Jewish Chaplain at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center. He is also member of the Hospital's Ethics Advisory Committee & Palliative Care Team. NAJC Executive Director Cecille Allman Asekoff Cecille coordinates activities to enhance professional development for Jewish chaplains nationwide. She serves as regional and national liaison to inter-religious national chaplaincy agencies and is a member of the Spiritual Care Collaborative (SCC). Further, Cecille facilitates pastoral/spiritual and chaplaincy training programs in collaboration with other groups both in the United States and Israel. She is in the forefront of developing chaplaincy program in Israel where educational programs and conferences are being offered to Israelis. Cecille also is an active presence in her synagogue and is involved in a myriad of programs there.
